Vippie PC and Siplink are softphones for Windows  operating system (all versions). In the new release an implementation of  g729 codec has been added. Now the softphones support following voice codecs: g729, g723.1, g711a/u, GSM.  

G.729 is an audio data compression algorithm for voice that compresses digital voice in packets of 10 milliseconds duration. Music or DTMF tones can only be transported reliably with this codec using the RTP Payload for DTMF Digits, Telephony Tones, and Telephony Signals as specified in RFC 2833. Because of its low bandwidth requirements, G.729 is mostly used in  VoIP applications where bandwidth must be conserved. Standard G.729 operates at a bit rate of 8 kbit/s.

The contacts menu available in VSPortal has been implemented also in Vippie! thus enabling travelling users to access their contact information directly from the communicator.

The contacts can be called or IM or SMS directly from the address book menu. The search functionality allows to find quickly needed information.

Also Vippie! utilizes special mechanism for exchanging the data with the server which prevents from loading the whole recordset with every login. Part of the data are kept locally and Vippie! controls the data integrity, in case if a contact was added from the VSPortal. Also the new records added from Vippie!, or any changes, are updated instanteneously on the server.

I recorder this short video to show our new design for Vippie! called Classic.  Also it shows some of the communicator’s functionality like making call, listening to voicemail, sending instant message etc.

Both Vippie! and Siplink are now available in two versions:

• with RTC and supported codecs g723.1, GSM, g711
• with PJsip stack with codecs iLBC, Speex, GSM, g722, g726

New releases of both of our softphones i.e. Siplink and Vippie! are now available also in form of no-install versions. All the softphone files are packed into one executable file which is then uploaded to USB memory phone by Yealink

After pluging the USB into a PC the softphone will automatically start without having to install any files on the PC. This feature is great help for users often traveling as now they can take the phone with them and make/receive calls from any PC for example from Internet Cafe. 

This solution can work not only with Yealink but also can be loaded to any other USB memory stick with or without phone device.
